Sam and Russel’s Bright and Classic Wedding in Seguin, Texas
I had the chance to capture Sam and Russel’s traditional Texas wedding in February at the Texas Agricultural Education & Heritage Center in Seguin, Texas. Living in San Marcos, Texas, at the time, and I was recommended to shoot their wedding from a friend after their original photographer ghosted them… yikes! I’m so grateful that they found me though. We immediately hit it off from our first meeting.
The day started out foggy, which made for some beautiful, moody environmental shots around the rustic property. I began shooting the big white church, old cars, and historic gas station to start the morning off and it really set the mood of rustic Texas charm for the whole day.
I went inside the barn and hung out with Sam as she got her makeup done while I captured some details, including one of my favorite photos from the day, the rings!
After Sam and Russel were ready, we made out way into the beautiful, white historic church. The Zion Lutheran Church (1890-2008) was originally located in Charlottenburg, TX, Lavaca County. In 2014, renovations to restore the church were completed after relocation to the village of vintage buildings at the Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center.
The lighting could not have been better! The combination of a beautifully (then sunny) day and large windows lit up the entire space.
Sam and Russel did a quick first look and portion session, their first time seeing each other all day! We jumped into a few family portraits before the rest of the guests rolled in. The ceremony began and Sam eventually walked down the aisle, hand in hand with her best friend. Sam and Russel shared their first kiss as husband and bride!
Then the ceremony and party kicked off in The Big Red Barn. A classic country band, lots of dancing and cake took place for the rest of the afternoon.
It was truly a beautiful day and I’m so happy mine and Sam + Russel’s paths crossed.
Review From Sam & Russel:
“A month before I was to be married our initial Photographer ghosted us. Wouldn’t return my calls or emails. I was in a panic, Erica was recommended by a close friend. My then fiance and I met with her. From the start she blew us away. She has a great eye and is so easy to communicate with her. Within five minutes we knew she was the one for us. We hired her then and there. Shortly before our wedding she went out there on her own time to scope out the venue. This small professional act shows her passion and commit to her clients.
On the day of of our wedding we woke to dark clouds she texted me reassuring me the weather would clear up, she knew because she had kept an eye on it all week. She captured every shot we had requested and then captured some beautiful candid ones, she promised us we would have them in a week, she checked in with me a few days before and I begged to see a few. They were all amazing.
She captured one of my mom watching me walking towards the church. It was such a beautiful picture it made me cry, like ugly cry at work. Every picture was beautiful and captured the best day of my life. Erica is beyond talented and her kindness and passion is evident in her work. Not only would I recommend her to anyone we hope to use her again for future milestones in our lives.”
