Kyla & Ryan – Salt River Couples Shoot

Kyla & Ryan – Couples Shoot at the Lower Salt River

The Salt River is becoming one of my favorite spots in Arizona. I took some self-couple portraits with Alexis in almost this exact location a few weeks back. I was so happy to return with Kyla & Ryan for this couples photoshoot at the Lower Salt River in the Tonto National Forest in Mesa, Arizona.

Their beautiful bouquet and boutonniere were provided by Gina from Fiori Floral Designs in Scottsdale, Arizona. If you’re in need of some beautiful flower work in the valley for any occasion, she is your girl. The colors of the bouquet worked SO well with Kyla and Ryan’s personal style and outfits along with the gorgeous Arizona mountain backdrop. I love the pop of yellow and the use of greenery throughout the arrangement.

My models, Kyla & Ryan, were such a joy to work with! We spent around an hour hanging above and around the base of the Salt River taking photos. This part of Arizona is exactly what I think of when I imagine the “wild west”. I associate it with the 500 or so wild horses present and the view of superstition mountains in the distance, they give me such a freeing feeling. The Lower Salt River is truly an underrated gem for taking photos, hiking, and swimming (even tubing)! I’m amazed that I’m only a 40-minute drive away from this location.

It was so difficult to choose between black and white and color for some of these photos. I adore the colors and tones I put into the editing, but the B&W gives the images such an old western feel. So I used both throughout this set!

I’ll be looking for more opportunities to bring more couples (and families) out here. There is so much of this part of the Tonto National Forest to explore and I’d love to help more people capture beautiful memories here.
